Old Faithful Problems
by Galen Winey on March 23, 2008 1:01 PM in Widgets.

Hi, folks.

The National Park Service is preventing access to the Old Faithful webcam image from external servers, so in other words, it's broken without a fix. (sigh) We've contacted the NPS about this problem, so hopefully we can get it figured out and working again.

Sorry for the trouble; we'll keep you in touch regarding a fix.

Leopard and Taco Widgets
by Austin Heller on October 26, 2007 4:55 PM in Widgets.

In case you haven't noticed, things have been quiet around Taco Widgets for about a month now. But don't worry: you'll be seeing some new stuff in due time. Meanwhile, Leopard is upon us, which means you might be thinking about two things:

  1. When am I getting Leopard?
  2. How many of my apps will work in Leopard?

I can't help you with that first one, but here's some relief about the latter: thanks to help from Official Taco Widgets Pal&trade Ariana, and because Dashboard widgets are almost entirely comprised of web-based technologies, we are happy to say that our widgets work 100% in Leopard; you won't have to wait to get some easy, convenient widget love. Remember, we can only get Leopard as quickly as you can, but Apple has provided us with the resources to make sure, widget-wise, no compatibility issues will arise from the OS, so install'er up and have fun!

...and if you do have a problem with something, don't hesitate to e-mail us.

AppButton, Web Translator Updated
by Austin Heller on September 23, 2007 7:55 PM in Widgets.

We've updated AppButton and Web Translator to versions 1.1 and 2.1, respectively. Aside from some minor bug fixes, we've also totally revamped them aesthetically; AppButton's faces look better and have some brand new colors (Pink, Purple, Brown? Whodathunkit!), and Web Translator, sporting a shiny transparent black skin, has finally been banished of its blue ugliness.

You can get the latest AppButton here and Web Translator here.

CharacterPal and Keyboard Characters
by Mason Sklar on September 17, 2007 2:10 AM in Widgets.

If there's any support email we get the most (besides PayPal's annoying donation alerts), it's probably "How do I use CharacterPal? I can get the keyboard characters like "æ" to work, but when I drag and drop the other characters it just gives me the code, like ☤ What am I doing wrong?"

The answer? Nothing. You're doing nothing wrong- that's how it works.

You see, when developers write HTML (the stuff webpages are made in), they have to type special codes to get special symbols to render correctly (and HTML emails, too). However, they do not work in, say, Microsoft Word or your everyday text editor. As much as we wish we could fix this, we simply can't provide a solution at the moment given the constraints of Dashboard, so the best thing we can tell you is to just try to avoid typing those characters. However, you can use the ones in that first menu item ("Keyboard").

Thanks for reading. :)
